I admit, it’s difficult to feel God sometimes, and easy to feel distant from him. “Is God really with me?” we think.

Well, this past Sunday we had a service at my church titled, “Realize What God Has Done.” I went home with a determination to realize, but I still felt confused and was filled with wonder as well.

“What has God done that I am not aware of yet? What will God do in my life this week? What can I realize about God further?”

A few months ago I started keeping my bike indoors because my mom told me she had a dream that someone stole my bike. Though I didn’t want to believe my mom’s dream was true I didn’t wanna risk it so I started storing it indoors. My mom bought a new sofa so they had to move my bike outdoors.

So when I walked to my backyard I found it outside on our patio. I was upset at first but knew I had no choice but to keep it there. So I started fastening a covering over it and hoped nobody would try to steal it.

Then my mom’s partner came outdoors and told me he had a lock I could use, but said he couldn’t remember the passcode. Though I’d used it before I couldn’t remember either. I thought, “Well at least I can tie it around the wheel so it will look like it’s locked.”

But I couldn’t give up just like that. I started to mess with it. Next thing you know I was sitting on my hammock thoroughly searching my brain for the code! It was like I was trying to solve a rubix cube.

I tried the same number across all four rows of the lock. I tried 1,2,3,4, etc. That didn’t work.

I thought to myself “If God is with me, I can figure it out. If only God was with me. If I can’t figure it out it must mean God is not with me…or I’m not receiving the Holy Spirit’s inspiration or God’s thoughts.”

So I sat there and continued trying. Then I tried two numbers of the same digit, and two others of the same digit because the passcode was four numbers. I remembered in the past when my mom’s partner used the lock he told me the passcode was something like “4545.” (It’s a different passcode. No worries I’m not telling you my passcode lol!)

My frustration grew strong because all the numbers I tried didn’t work. I threw the chain on my lap and thought “Should I spend more time on this?” It felt like thirty minutes had passed.

Nonetheless, I made up my mind to continue with determination. Suddenly, I saw the key had an arrow around the entrance of the lock pointing towards the right. I tried to move it to the right but it only budged to a certain degree and misaligned the lock. Of course, when I pushed the key in the lock that didn’t work.

I tried two number 7’s and inserted the key into the lock and I felt the key go in a little deeper than previously! “It worked,” I thought, “so that means 7 must be one of the numbers, now I just need to figure out the other two!”

I was so shocked and was so focused on solving this! I tried two different number digits but that didn’t work. Then I tried two of the same number and one by one mentally crossed out each number that didn’t work. As I was getting closer to the correct passcode, I could feel the key going deeper and deeper into the hole. One of the numbers was right! Then I tried that number again and boom! THE KEY WENT IN!

When I tell you I LOST IT!

I confessed and proclaimed “GOD YOU ARE SURELY WITH ME. HOLY SPIRIT THANK YOU! LORD THANK YOU!  THANK YOU TRINITY FOR HELPING ME.”

I couldn’t get over it. That was my sign; that was my confirmation. It was as if God said, “If you believe I can do it I will help you, you just have to realize I’m always next to you.”

Through this experience I realized God is never too far. God is with us in the smallest and biggest things. He’s with us through the most simple and incredible situations.

You have to make up your mind to realize and receive the answer. Life is like a forgotten lock code sometimes. You may not remember the answer right away, but when you try to realize it you will figure it out. If we as humankind try to remember the answer from the beginning we will find the answer in the end. If we remember the first and the last, the alpha and omega-our God- we will find the purpose for why we were created. We will know God is with us. He watches us with fiery eyes of love. With him we will be victorious in the end.
