I LOVED THIS MOVIE! So much so that I watched it about four times this week. Yikes, I know. I had to stop myself from watching it for the fifth time yesterday. LOL.

All that goes to say that, it truly is a captivating movie any fan of the show would want to watch again and again, as I have proven myself hehehe.

I watched this movie for the 4th time at my best friend’s 26th birthday party! We were gonna watch elemental (my best friend’s current favorite movie, yes we are Disney adults) but for some reason the movie was lagging a whole lot so we ended up watching the Ladybug and Cat Noir movie. I was secretly exhilarated and only felt a tiny bit bad. I didn’t want our friends to be robbed of the experience of watching this movie, of course!

The main reason why I loved this movie so much is because it is a musical and if you know anything about me I love musical theater, musicals, and anything that hints of disney! Although I did feel a little weird hearing the much darker voice of the singer Lou, I have to admit she has a lovely voice so I wasn’t too upset about it. She is definitely an amazing singer and I think their choice to use her voice definitely robbed us of hearing Christina Vee (who can actually sing really well). Her voice is definitely more of a musical theater kind of voice while Lou’s is more of a pop sound. However, the pop sound makes the soundtrack so easy to play on repeat, while having Christina’s voice would’ve been great- I don’t think the soundtrack would be as great a hit with those who aren’t fans of musicals.

Speaking of the music, the writers and producers and all the magical people behind the making of these songs, really did a great job of creating music that would resonate with a lot of people. Even my friends who HATE musicals found themselves relating to the lyrics of these songs.

There were so many touching moments and the songs (especially the ballads with Cat Noir and Ladybug) stirred the soul. ‘If I Believed in Me’ is the anthem for any kid who has ever struggled with self-esteem issues or felt like the odd one out. ‘You are Ladybug’ is one I relate to so much. It spoke to me on many levels. As someone who in the last years really developed a relationship with Jesus Christ, I could compare this to when I first started learning Bible study with my church youth group. I felt Jesus calling me to be His chosen one but didn’t feel up for the great mission of becoming His beloved one, much less His disciple. Like Ladybug I thought, “You got the wrong girl.” ‘Stronger Together’ was a *CHEF’S KISS* BEAUTIFUL ballad, the harmonizing between the two singers was incredible. SQVARE, the male singer (who is also not the same voice as the voice actor, that’s Bryce Papenbrook who I also applaud for his great performance) has a lovely, raspy voice that matches Bryce’s pretty well so I have no complaints there. Cat Noir and ladybug dancing in the clouds nearly TOOK ME OUT. The scenes are mesmerizing like they really had no business going this hard with all the gorgeous details. The cuteness and detail of each character in this movie is what also makes this such an enjoyable movie. ‘Reaching Out’ is an anthem that I’m sure everyone saw themselves in; it so perfectly depicts the internal struggle we all face when things don’t go according to our expectations; it’s so easy to feel discouraged and want to give up on our dreams. ‘Courage in Me’ is an empowering anthem; my favorite lyrics are,

“I’ll go on regardless

Of anything standing in my way

Harness the power in me for those

Who need to be saved

I won’t run, I won’t hide, I will soar through the sky

Tonight, I’m not going down without a fight

And now is the time

My moment to rise”

This is definitely something I can relate to my life of faith. It’s scary to testify about Jesus in a world that is so unlike Him. But we have to “harness the power in us for those who need to be saved”; we must be Jesus’ body and passionate, boldly testify for Him.

‘My Lady’ is a cute one; my favorite part is the end when Cat Noir is up in the clouds. CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW CUTE CAT NOIR IS? He is just adorable. He’s such an easy character to love because we can sympathize with his mommy and daddy issues BUT ALSO he has such a pure heart in the sense that despite all he’s been through-all the betrayal and pain he’s faced- he still chooses to save Paris and be a person who pursues love. He is so endearing because he so persistently (and charmingly) pursues Ladybug despite all her rejections. Isn’t that like Jesus? In spite of how the world hated Him and crucified Him he continues to love us and save us everyday!

Finally, ‘Now I see’ is the most tender love song…I truly SWOONED! Question: Was this the ending credits song? Or was it a scene in the movie? I did a bit of “research” (google search lol) and it looks like this song wasn’t in a scene, yet I wish it was because it’s so gorgeous. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ENDING SONG. The ‘hide and seek’ lyric is a work of genius and Lou’s tender voice together with SQVARE makes this such an intimate, and breathtaking song. It perfectly encapsulates the big reveal at the end. “Did I always know?” is a lyric that sticks with me EVERYTIME. Did they always know, deep in their souls that they were always meant to be and were always together just a step away from each other?

Ladybug and Cat Noir are goals and the whole plot of not knowing who each other truly is and being superheroes is just really cute. WE MIRACULOUS LADYBUG FANS COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER ENDING, in my humblest opinion.

OH, and let us not forget the opening credits song is such a bop, so catchy! I love listening to it in the car. Yes, this album is on repeat in my car and probably will be for the next week or so (maybe month).

All that goes to say, this movie was a masterpiece and I am so thankful for this movie and the show. I remember watching it before I believed in Jesus and when I did become a believer it helped me really understand how evil and good work in this world and the importance of taking a stand against wickedness.

As a believer, I felt so seen and felt empowered to continue bringing out my inner superhero and fight the forces of darkness everyday together with Jesus.

Make sure to watch this movie and let me know about your own realizations down in the comments!
